ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY is a recognized specialty of dentistry, involving treatment of many diseases, injuries and defects of the head, neck, face and the hard and soft tissues of the upper and lower jaws.

As a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Yuko C. Nakamura aims to provide a high quality, gentle and compassionate environment. She manages a wide variety of problems relating to the oral cavity and the maxillofacial (jaws and facial) regions. Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. In addition, Dr. Nakamura attended medical school in order to increase her knowledge of medicine to provide comprehensive care for patients requiring oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Nakamura practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery for both pediatric and adult patients, including:

  • Dentoalveolar surgery (such as removal of impacted teeth and bone grafting)
  • Dental implantology
  • Orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery)
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea surgery
  • Craniofacial surgery
  • Facial reconstruction/trauma
  • Orofacial pathology (such as tumors or cysts) and Temporomandibular joint disease (TMD)
